ABOUT ME
Jad Daniel Ellis is an actor, director, and coach, originally from Houston, Texas. Although based in New York City, he continues to be a professional working actor traveling between three coasts - LA, TX, and NY.
Growing up in Texas, he got his start performing at The Hobby Center and local theatres. In 2021 he moved to NYC, continuing his studies virtually towards a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston, while training at The Institute for American Musical Theatre (IAMT). His work in theatre eventually transitioned him into Film/TV, and then into playwriting and directing. In 2022 he co-wrote, co-produced, co-directed, and starred in his original play “The Lion and The Panther” in Houston, Texas. Following that success, he ventured to LA for the Hollywood premiere of “The Lion and The Panther” at The Hudson Theatre.
Since his time in LA, he moved back temporarily to Houston to primarily focus on graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2024 from the University of Houston. However, while he was there he also co-directed a production of the musical “Rent” at a local Houston theatre.
Upon graduation, he continued his theatrical endeavors including training, auditioning, acting in short films/commercials, and even starting up a coaching business for aspiring talent. He uses his experience in TV/Film and Musical Theatre/Theatre to help performers with auditions, classes, self-tapes, and overall industry advice.
He now permanently resides in Washington Heights where he spends his free time walking by the Hudson or watching the latest movie release. His Letterboxd stays active!
